Wings Cancer Foundation, with locations in East Memphis, Midtown Memphis and Southaven, provides hope, education, research, and support without charge to anyone touched by cancer. August 1996 -
West Clinic Wings is co-founded by Sandy Patterson, breast cancer survivor, and Brenda Wiseman, RN. February 1997 - Wings Volunteer group is organized under patient Lois Pezdirtz with 8 volunteers.
July 1998 - Wings becomes a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
July 1998 - Wings expands its Programs to include Moving Toward Health series of Exercise for Strength, Yoga for Relaxation and Tai Chi for Balance.
September 1998 - Gigi Fernandez Lee, RN, is named Volunteer Program Coordinator.
August 1999 - Nancy Daevel joins Wings as Public Relations / Communications Coordinator.
September 1999 - Name is changed from West Clinic Wings to the Wings Cancer Foundation.
August 2000 - Anita Vincent, RD, LDN is added providing Nutrition Counseling to patients and families.
December 2000 - Sarah Blackburn joins the Wings staff as Coordinator of Special Projects.
April 2001 - The Wings Labyrinth, a 1/3 mile meditative walk, is constructed on the Campus of the West Clinic in East Memphis to integrate spiritual self-care into a health care setting.
April 2001 - Wings is recognized with gifts of furniture, design consultation and music from Healing Environments, a non-profit organization, for its ongoing efforts in providing an environment that is more comforting. More healing.
May 2002 - Annual Wings Golf Scramble becomes the signature event and premier fundraising effort of the foundation.
June 2002 - Sally Hensley, LCSW, is added as Wings Cancer Foundation East Memphis Programs Coordinator.
October 2003 - WingsGallery opens in the West Clinic East Memphis location enhancing its healing space and giving the cancer experience a visual voice. Sarah Blackburn is named Gallery Curator.
April 2004 - Sarah Griffin becomes the Wings Assistant Volunteer Coordinator.
October 2004 - Wings Cancer Foundation Southaven location opens providing services to more patients and families.
October 2004 - Wings Cancer Foundation Midtown Memphis location opens providing services to more patients and families.
March 2005 - Latania Gillespie, LSW, joins the Southaven location as Programs Coordinator.
March 2005 - Belinda Rimer joins the Midtown Memphis location as Programs Coordinator.
July 2005 - Chaplain Jesse Moore joins the Wings Staff to provide spiritual support to patients, families, volunteers and staff.
September 2005 - Marlene Gerson joins the foundation as Director of Development.
November 2005 - Wings receives a grant from the Crye-Leike Sherry Park Memorial Golf Tournament for the 10th year funding support and research.
November 2005 - The foundation receives a grant from the Memphis Pink Ribbon Open (PRO) for the 5th year, recognizing its ongoing efforts in providing hope and healing to breast cancer patients. FormFitting is funded in part by this grant.
April 2006 - Volunteer Program has grown to 250 strong.
